BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Rodents abundance evaluation:

low

Breeding conditions:

Lemmings, Arctic Foxes, owls were absent, buzzards did not nest. Non-breeding Skuas wandered along the river, and only near Popigai mouth a pair of Long-tailed Skuas demonstarted breeding behaviour. Only ruffs were numerous in Fomich R. valley, generally wader denstity was low (Dotterel, Golden and Pacific Golden Plovers, Ringed Plover, Temminck's Stint, Grey-tailed Tattler). Near Popigai R. waders with broods became common, probably reproductive success was close to average.
